About us

The first chapter of Omega Nu was founded in 1897 in San Jose, California.  Today Omega Nu has evolved into an association of 12 California Chapters, each of which serves its own community through charity and service. The Chico (Beta) Chapter of Omega Nu was established in 1920 and currently has 38 active members, 64 active excused members and 46 inactive members.

The Beta Chapter of Omega Nu focuses its charitable contributions on worthwhile needs in the greater Chico area. The Beta Chapter of Omega Nu remains a completely volunteer group with no paid staff and no office.

Each year, Omega Nu, Beta Chapter holds two major fund raisers. In our 2016-2017 fiscal year, the Beta Chapter of Omega Nu distributed $41,075.00 in scholarships and charitable giving.

Some of the non-profit organizations that were the recipients of our charitable giving this past year include:

Scholarships to Chico, Pleasant Valley, Fairview, Durham & Paradise High School Seniors

Butte County Child Abuse Prevention Council

Butte County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse

Chico Art Center

Chico Junior High

Chico Science Fair

City of Flags

Girls State

Handi-Riders of Northern California

Safe and Sober Grad Night for Chico, Pleasant Valley, Durham and Paradise High School

Peg Taylor Center

 and more.

Omega Nu charity work is possible with the continued support of our amazing community.  Individuals and businesses purchase tickets, donate items, purchase advertisements, and sponsor tables at our events to show their support. We sincerely appreciate these donations; the needs in our community are ongoing and continue to increase.

Omega Nu is proud of our philanthropic tradition and we look forward to continuing our charitable work with the help of so many generous supporters in our community. Thank you!
